When starting Mytha Legends for the very first time, it can come off as a little scary.
The game has a lot of features, and 9 times out of 10 someone will probably say hi to you.
Just Need Some Refresher Hints On Commands?
The Official Tutorial
Step One - New Character
Okay, you just downloaded and extracted Mytha Legends.
What do you do now?
Find the folder, it should be in your downloads folder, or on your desktop.
Double Click the Mytha Legends Icon, and a window with Mytha Legends on it will pop up.
Click: New Character
It will prompt you for an Email Address
We suggest that you input a legitimate one you may be reached at.
For a future points account, and incase you ever forget your password.
It is not mandatory though. :)
Once you have decided to either enter or not enter your email. Press Okay to continue.
Now you can change the way your avatar looks, enter in your username and password.
Once you have found a look that suits you, created your Username, and come up with a secure Password, press okay.
*We highly recommend that you try to include at least one character that is not A-Z it will help insure the security of your password.
Step Two - Is This Real Life?
Click above to see an example.
Now you will find yourself in a room with a lady named Katrina,
she will continue to tell you that you may visit this tutorial if you stay on that screen.
Profile - Profiles are neat ways, to see how many mobs you have killed, how many orbs you have,
getting to your guild info really quick, seeing the quests you've completed, your PvP points, your
Gladiator Points, the hires you have equiped, and to see a little message you can type in. Yes, I
know, you are probably thinking, how will I ever keep up with all of that at once?
The beauty is, you don't have to! You can focus on one thing at a time, and still have loads of fun!
Lets break the different sections down though, just for simplicity's sake.
Starting with quick ways to view someone elses profile, and your own.
If a player is on the same screen as you, you can right click on their avatar.
You can type /viewprofile Username
You can open the Who window, select a players name, and click on the little person icon at the bottom.
For right now, lets just open our own profile. Right click on yourself.
You see a large, mostly empty profile.
Don't let this discourage you though!
Click inside the large empty section, that appears next to your avatar's head.
You can now type a small message about yourself, that you want players to know.
Like:
Hey I'm just here to have fun, I'm still really new to the game.
Now you can press the little X in the top left corner, right click on yourself again, and the message is still there!
Click above to see an example.
You will see a sign next to a stairwell, there will be signs like this one all over the land of Mytha.
You can click on the sign to open it up.
It Reads:
Take the stairs to visit the bank.
Press the X in the top left corner to close the sign.
Lets go see what the bank looks like. :)
Be careful when going up the steps, if you continue to walk left as you do, you will go back down them.
Now that you are in the Bank, you can see 3 different signs.
Lets click the one by the Banker.
It Reads:
Hold your mouse over and NPC (non player
character) to see their name. Your bank
account can be accessed from any banker
in the game world. Listen to him and he
will tell you how to access your account.
Press the X in the top left corner to close the sign.
I'll list the commands to deposit, withdraw, and view your balance of the bank.
/balance - This will let you view the balance in your bank account.
/deposit ammount currency - This can be tricky, cause there are 6 different currencies in Mytha Legends.
An Example of deposit is:
/Deposit 10 Silver
/withdraw ammount currency - This can also be tricky, for the very same exact reason.
An Example of withdraw is:
/Withdraw 10 Silver
Lets click on the sign above his head now, it has gold coins on it.
It reads:
This is the Tutorial Bank.
You most likely won't have any reason to
come back here.
Press the X in the top left corner to close the sign.
Now lets click on the sign next to the strange red vault.
It reads:
This is your bank vault. To drop and item
inside it, stand beside it and drago and
drop the item. To widthdraw the item, face
the vault and press SHIFT. Select the item
you want, and then click OK.
Press the X in the top left corner to close the sign.
Click above to see an example.
Your vault can hold 8 items at any point.
If you place currency into your vault, it will hold more than one of the currency. Any item that stacks infact.
Now lets go back downstairs, and exit the building.
Step Three - The First Step To Becoming A Legend
Lets pay attention to our hires now, you currently have 3 of them.
When you create or reset a character you start with three 3 random hires.
The list of hires you can get is as follows:
Woodsprite - Melee, good strength usually. Should equip with sword or axe.
Alchemist - This unit, is better for healing your other units. Give a small sword or dagger.
Rat - These are very agile creatures, and avoid being hit well. Can also use small sword or dagger.
Giant Rat - Same as the rat, except a little less agile, and has a bit more attack.
Ranger - Good all around character, can use range or Melee weapons. Also some spells.
Wolf - Has more then average movement, can use a sword or dagger. Good attack.
Slime - More of a rare creature to get, has a VERY good attack. High level slime, is very dangerous.
Dwarf - Lots of life, should give axes or crossbows.
Elven Archer - Good at distance, should equip with a bow when you are able.
You will see two signs outside of this building.
Lets click on the one closest to the building first.
It Reads:
Once you've got yourself a few rangers, go east and have your first fight!
Press the X in the top left corner to close the sign.
Lets read the next sign, over near the ranger, and Larry.
Hover over larry and click on buy to
purchase rangers. They cost 1 silver
each. There are rats east that you can kill
to get silver from! :) Have fun!
Press the X in the top left corner to close the sign.
Okay while it is good to know how to buy things Larry will create free Rangers for you.
Walk over to where the ranger is, and type hire infront of him.
He will become a part of your army.
You can have 5 hires active at any time.
Lets go ahead and hire 2 rangers.
Be patient as it takes Larry a moment to make another one.
Click above to see an example.
Step Four - One Rat Down, 99 To Go
Lets follow what the first sign said now and go east, to our first rat fight.
We see another sign on this screen, lets click on it.
It Reads:
This rat represents a battle that you can
participate in. To enter the battle, stand
next to the rat and press the SHIFT
(action) key. There are more rats south
you can practice on.
Press the X in the top left corner to close the sign.
You can also enter battles just by walking up and facing the rat.
Lets take a moment before entering battle to hover over the pictures of our hires.
You will notice that it will tell you their level, the experience they need to level,
and list a number next to Str, Int, and Aim.
These numbers are very important.
Strength - Is how hard you hit, it adds to your damage.
Intelligence - This ups the chance you have of getting criticals.
Aim - Want to hit more without missing? Then you need aim.
Click above to see an example.
Don't worry too much right now if you have a hire that only has 1 in something,
you can always buy another hire later on in the game.
Chances are high that your starting party will not be the party you stick with.
You may also notice there are three little icons under your hire's picture, lets click on middle one.
It disappears from your active hires list, lets look down at our inventory, you will see a larger
picture, similar to the icon you just pressed. Lets right click on this image.
It will tell you that it is a Soul Stone holding inside of it a hire.
It will also list the name, and level of the hire.
You can double click it to reactivate it in your party.
Now it may not be where you want it to be in your party, by clicking on the red arrow you can change
the order of your hires. That way you can try different strategies in battle.
Sometimes this feature, can be a bit complex, and if it's easier for you, you can always unactive them
and then reactive them in the right order. Keep in mind that you must always have one hire active.
Lets try and enter the battle.
Click above to see an example.
Here you will see all 5 of your hires on the screen with 3 rats.
The first hire listed is the first one to become active, after that it just goes down the list.
If you look towards the bottom of the combat screen, you will see an action tool bar.
You can move your hires with the arrow keys, be careful not to hit yourself.
It lists the movement left on a hire above the 4 actions "Attack, Spell, Defend, Flee"
* A warning about Fleeing, you have a chance every time you flee to lose 1 stat point.
Lets walk up to a creature and attack, you can do this with an arrow movement,
or by pressing attack and selecting the square you wish to attack.
Repeat this process until all of the rats are dead.
It should take about 3 to 5 hits per rat, because you don't have any weapons.
After killing the rats, there may be items on the ground of the screen to pick up.
You can pick one up by simply stepping on it with a hire.
Once all the rats are killed, and items picked up, you may press Exit. Which is now showing, instead of Flee.
You will notice that your hires lost Hit Points while in battle, by standing somewhere your hires heal over time.
If you have any hires that are down to 0 points, don't worry.
They are not dead, you just need to take them to an Inn to revive them.
You heal slower when you are outside of an Inn, but for tutorial island it shouldn't take very long.
Maybe a couple minutes.
As there are no Inn's in the tutorial island, I recommend you press the little soul button under a hire,
this will place it inside a soul stone for safe keeping. Only active hires can be revived though.
Then just go hire another Ranger.
You may now notice that all of your hires have names, and that the Ranger's you are hiring are all named
Rick. This is not an error, and any Rangers or other Hires you buy will have different names.
It is random what name they start with, and on occasion hires will get the same name.
Now that we are fully healed, lets go back west, and then south. To the screen below the starting building.
Step Five - Rat Hunting
Now that we are fully healed, lets go back west, and then south. To the screen below the starting building.
We see another sign, lets click on it, and see what it says.
It Reads:
Can you kill all the rats? If you can, the
door will open. If you're having trouble,
ask some others to help you. If you just
can't do it, go west.
Press the X in the top left corner to close the sign.
Lets defeat these three rat battles.
It should only take about 5-6 minutes.
While doing this you may have to take a break after one or two rat battles to heal.
It is possible that one of your hires may have leveled,
when they level they will increases in Hit Points, and Mana Points (If the hire can use spells).
This is a good thing, on occasion you will also get stat ups from leveling.
This is a rare thing though, and should be taken really excitedly if it happens.
Once you have defeated all three rat battles, the door on the ground will open.
Revealing a set of stairs.
Lets walk down the stairs.
Step Six - Our First Quest
Once you have walked down them you will see a man with two signs next to him.
Lets click the sign on the left of him first.
It Reads:
Ochi has a quest for you. You'll need to
complete it in order to go through the
eastern stairs. To start the quest, type
QUEST. Anyone in the area that has a
quest will let you know what it is.
Press the X in the top left corner to close the sign.
Now lets open the sign on the right of him.
It Reads:
If after saying QUEST you don't receive a
quest, it might mean someone else is
already running this quest, or there is no
quest available.
Press the X in the top left corner to close the sign.
Lucky for us Ochi does have a quest.
Hover over him, and click Quest.
He will give you a Quest to go back up the stairs you came down, and kill a giant rat.
Lets follow his instructions.
Once you go back up the door, carefully walk around the rats that have more than likely respawned.
Over west to the next screen.
There is a sign and some stairs here, lets click the sign.
It Reads:
This staircase takes you into the real
world. Note that once you pass through
here, you cannot come back.
Press the X in the top left corner to close the sign.
Since we have a quest to complete, lets go ahead and kill the giant rat on this screen.
We have recieved a knife as a reward, look into your inventory you should see some
silver or gold coins, as well as a knife.
You can right click on items to see a description of them, and to see who can use the item.
Now drag and drop it on a hire to equip it.
*Hint You have to drag it onto one of the squares next to it.
Step Seven - Continuation
Now lets go kill the three rat battles on the screen, and open the door again.
You may have to wait for them to respawn if this gets to boring, you can always go back north
and then east to train on more rats while you're waiting.
Once you have killed all three rat battles, and the door opens, lets go back down the stairs.
We see Ochi once again, as you may recall he said that once we
completed the quest we could go up the eastern stairs.
Lets go up the stairs and see what's on the other side.
We see a small building with a sign outside of it, lets read the sign.
It Reads:
This old shop will sell you a few things to
prepare you for the last quest in the
training area.
Press the X in the top left corner to close the sign.
Let go inside of the shop and see what is sold.
There are two more signs, lets read the sign on the left first
It Reads:
To buy from Eras, stand close to him and
click BUY. As you can see, he only deals
in silver, so make sure you have enough
on you!
Press the X in the top left corner to close the sign.
Lets click on the sign to the right now.
It Reads:
Once you've bought some gear it will
appear in your inventory (bottom right of
the screen). Drag and drop it into one of
the 6 empty boxes next to your hireling.
To unequip something, just click it.
Press the X in the top left corner to close the sign.
Now lets click buy on Eras and see what he sells.
If you want to buy a knife from Eras you can, once finished in the shop exit it and continue on north.
We see some more rats, lets kill them for the experience.
(If while you are killing rats it comes up saying to hail you, this is broadcasted throughout the server
every time you kill 100, 500, 1000, or 5000 of a mob it will broadcast. Each time you get a point for your character.
You can view these points by clicking on the axe icon above your inventory.
The people icon lists friends online, you can also add friends through it.
The shield icon is your guild, which will eventually be in important later on.
I suggest that you try to get your 100 rats while in the training area,
it's easier and it saves you a lot of time later.
Once you are done continue east onto the next screen.
Step Eight - The End Of An Era
You will see a woman NPC, a bridge, and a wolf.
Lets see if Mona Buys or Sells anything.
She doesn't.
Maybe she has a Quest, lets try Quest.
If you read your chat, she is trying to tell you that the wolf has stolen spell stones.
Lets kill the wolf so we can get the spell stones back.
When you walk up to the wolf you may not enter battle at first, press shift to enter the battle.
There's now a spell stone in your inventory, it will look to have some weird green picture on it.
You can right click on items to see a description of them, and to see who can use the item.
The only hire you have that can use the spell stone is your ranger, so lets go up to where your ranger is at,
under the ranger's picture you will see 3 icons.
Remember the purple one stores your hire in a spell stone.
The Arrows swaps your hires around.
Then there is a wand click on the wand, and a window will come up next to the hire, with 6 spell stone slots.
Lets put the spell stone in one of these slots, and then close the spell slot window.
Now the wolf may have spawned back, but don't worry.
You just got a Heal Spell Stone, and we're going to learn how to use it for the first time.
Enter the Wolf battle again, or in the instance that the wolf
has not spawned back, just go back west to a rat battle.
After one of your hires gets healed you will want to move the ranger with the spell equipped next to that hire.
Then click Spell on the action bar.
Now select the spell you want to use, and click on the hire.
Don't worry it will heal them.
If you continue the wolf battle, you will continue to get Spell Stones.
Now that we have learned how to use our spell, lets continue to the east.
We will see a male NPC named Sirrian.
He'll tell you that he has your final training quest, and you should ask him for it.
Lets click Quest on him.
He wants us to kill a woodsprite.
*Hint A Ranger can heal itself with the spell stone.
Lets see if we can.
It will now say that you completed a quest after you kill the woodsprite,
and we will see another NPC come over and start fixing the bridge.
Make sure that after he fixes the bridge you get across it quickly.
If you don't you will have to redo the quest from Sirrian.
Step Nine - The End
You will now find yourself in The Town Of Howl.
You may see a woman walking from screen to screen, she's an NPC.
She will tell you things that are both helpful, and annoying.
She just keeps talking, but lets ignore her and walk south, and then east.
We will see a large arena, there is one in every major town, most of them will have waves of mobs.
The howl one is a strictly PvP arena, lets walk east from this screen.
We will see a rat farm, and a NPC named John, lets not kill John's rats.
Instead lets say Quest.
He will more than likely give you a Quest, if he doesn't then someone else most likely has this quest.
If he does give you the quest you are to protect his rats, but most people don't try to kill these rats.
Lets go back west now, and down south.
We will see two buildings with numbers, and an Inn.
The two buildings with numbers are player housing, the Inn is where we want to go.
So we can heal from our recent adventure and bring back any unconscious hires.
One everyone is healed up fully, you should go out and adventure around.
Kill some rats, and giant rats so you can level your hires up more.
Over time John will give you a short sword, for a job well done, or he will be upset if someone kills his prized rat.
I suggest you look at the map of the first three towns to get a good understanding of where you can go.
There is a junk yard above the bank, where you can get old items people don't want to use anymore.
Most quests can be reran over and over again, and it never hurts to try.
For more assistance don't be afraid to ask an admin in game, or a player.
